When Worlds Collide

🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿

He tried to look at Jesus, but he was too short to look over the crowd.  So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road for Jesus was going to pass that way.

When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!”  He said.  “Quick, come down!”  —Luke 19:3-5

🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿

Like a tidal wave crashing over us.  Like a hurricane coming to meet us.  God’s love, we cannot escape.  His love calls us by name.  His love carves waves for us to collide into Him.  On top of the sycamore-fig tree, Zacchaeus experiences the most powerful collision known on earth:  When God and man impact face-to-face.  Where Jesus calls us found.  When Jesus comes to surround.  Those who are lost and are looking for a way out, let it be known.  Jesus is coming for you.

God’s love collides with our lostness.

Before we call or cry out to Jesus, He answers the questions that reside in our soul.  Zacchaeus is waiting on top of a tree for Jesus.  In his heart lies deep needs, unmet, that he yearns for someone to fill.  Without any prior encounter with Jesus.  No previous meeting or introduction.  A stunning and shocking miracle is in the making for Zacchaeus to experience:  Jesus, the Savior of the world, calls him by name.

Jesus’ love calls us first.

Jesus’ love comes to seize what is lost, to shatter all barriers across, to search where we’re vulnerable most.  On the day Jesus finds Zacchaeus, two worlds collide.  The crevice between lost and loved, revealed.  The chasm between God and man, healed.  The canyon between sin and sanctification, sealed.

Jesus, I don’t know you.  I have never met you.  But you know me.  That Jesus knows and calls Zacchaeus by name, changes everything for Zacchaeus.  A collision moment.

🍃🍃🍃

God’s love collides to claim us.

Traversing across the heavens.  Tearing through the atmosphere.  Torching all the previous clamor of those who vied for our heart.  Jesus’ love comes to claim us.  Jesus’ love comes to claim Zacchaeus on top of a tree that was placed there, planted there, and provided there so that at just the right moment in time, two worlds intersect.  Unknown to him, this tree has been waiting there for Zacchaeus his entire life.

Each of us has a sycamore-fig tree like this.  It may look and lean, fathom and feel differently, but its purpose is the same:  God has been protecting its presence until God’s presence could manifest Himself to us.  God’s sycamore tree for us is fierce and it prevails and punctures through the pain it takes us to get there.  By grace we arrive there stumbling.  By grace we leave there saved.

🍃🍃🍃

God’s love collides to keep us alive.

That the God of the universe knows our name before we have ever met Him, calling us, claiming us, and colliding with us is out of this world heart charging, soul changing.  We come alive in our collision with our God.  Every fiber and fabric of our being awakens to new life in Christ when the trajectory of our life course crashes into the living center of God’s hands.  God’s love collides to keep us alive.  Beloved, come down from the tree.  He’s coming for you today.  Wait in expectation for worlds to collide.
