Wooden Planks

🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿

My old self has been crucified with Christ.  —Galatians 2:20

🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿

Picture a rickety bridge spanning two sides of a mountain.  Wooden planks line the bridge.  As you take some steps forward, the wooden steps behind you fall into the ground below.  By the time you arrive on the other side of the bridge, no planks are left, just the ropes that lined them.

The mountain you just left.  Your old self.  The mountain you come upon now.  You new self.  All the wooden steps leading back to your old self, fallen into the deep ravine below.  In Christ, there’s no going back.

Live focused on Jesus.

There may be happenings in your past you hoped had transpired differently.  Misconceptions made in choosing the people closest to you, relationships.  Missteps in preparing plans for your future, regrets.  Misinterpretation of how others considered you, rationalizations.  Misunderstandings of truth that turned out to be falsehoods, reality checks.

These mistakes may have caused you pain, but our life in Christ is greater than the summation of our what if’s and why didn’t I see its.

In our blindness, Jesus becomes light and lights the way for us to see.

In our bankruptcy, Jesus becomes love, and loves us unconditionally.

In our brokenness, Jesus becomes life, and gathers pieces of our lives to make us complete.

Live focused on Jesus and all that He has for you, the abundance and affirmation that can only be found in Him.  In Christ, His light never fades, His love never fails, His life never finishes working on us.

Live in faith in Jesus.

Life in Christ is lived, loved, and longed forward.  We die with Jesus in death and are raised to walk in the newness of His life.  Our today looks different from our yesterday.  Our today will look different from our tomorrow.  All because of Jesus, by Jesus, and before Jesus, we exchange our old life so that our new life looks nothing like it used to.

Take two of those wooden planks that have fallen.  Put them together and you get a cross.  You don’t have to live life wishing your past had turned out differently.  If there is something you desired that is good for you, Jesus would have made it happen.  The fact that He didn’t means He has an abundance more in store for you.  Live in faith that in Christ, loss means life.  The sum of your what if’s and why’s died the day Jesus died on the cross.  Live this way instead.
