Wall Decor Designed By Satan

🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿

So Peter went to the side of the boat and walked in the water toward Jesus.  But when He saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink.  “Save me, Lord!”  he shouted.  —Matthew 14:27-29

🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿

Peter desires two things.  To walk on the water and to walk towards Jesus.  Godly aspirations with good intentions.  We aspire godly endeavors good for our faith.  Noble goals are notable goals in the physical realm, but they not enough in the spiritual realm where the enemy wars against the flesh.  In the spiritual arena, the goals we aspire to must be cemented on Jesus alone.

Where feet follows.

Peter has in mind to direct his heart towards Jesus just as we do.  But the window to our heart lies in our eyes.  Our eyes dictate where our feet will tread.  As long as Peter’s eyes are fixated on Jesus, Peter’s feet are led in the right path.  But once Peter’s eyes come off of Jesus and onto the wind and waves, the “evil twin” consequences result:  Fear and fall.  Peter’s apprehension increases to the point of overwhelming fear and he falls into the water.  Our aspirations?  Satan turns hope into helplessness in storms.  Peter finds out this fiasco firsthand.

Faith falters when our focus shifts from Jesus to the flesh and we end up fearful and falling.

Where faith faints.

Storms in our lives are a party setting for our enemy.  The wind and waves?  Wall decor by Satan.  He alters the decorations and displays depending on the theme of the fiesta and our fall.  Are you facing challenges in your relationships, real time management, health, or happiness?  Satan is a master manipulator and interior decorator, adept at utilizing stumbling blocks as demonic decor.  He designs stumbling blocks to match the scene of our struggle.  Satan chooses the howling wind and hounding waves for Peter, but for us, it will be situations-specific.

What can we as Christians do when we turn up at the wrong party hosted by our enemy, dj’ed by the wind and waves, and fall fearfully downward like Peter?

  1.  Lean our gaze back on God.  Avert our eyes away from the demonic world decor.  Do the stubstitute shuffle.  Substitute our fleshly failings for God’s grace.
  2. Leave the party.  Ideally, it’s best to exit.  But sometimes we can’t walk away, right away.  Like Peter, stuck in the middle of a lake, we may need to extricate ourselves.   Or, sometimes we are too overwhelmed (or too mesmerized) by the wind and waves.  Option A:  Leave asap.  Option B:  see next.
  3. Launch an SOS.  Call on Jesus to save and secure us.  Learn this solution from Peter.  Go ahead.  Push the “Save Me” speed dial.

In storms, our eyes avert from faith in Jesus and onto the wall decor of the wind and waves.  Turn the tables.  Shift your eyes away from Satan’s decorations onto the real truth of His word and cement your vision to the will of God.  Your feet will follow your eyes.  Your faith will follow your obedience.
