Friendship with Wisdom comes with it some disadvantages and advantages. We call them cotton balls versus cotton candy.
Cotton balls, little things that if you try to eat, will choke so knowing Wisdom has some cons.
Cons
Wisdom likes the word “No” a lot. No to un-lighted places, un-illuminated spaces, un-familiar races. If it’s unstable and ungodly, dark and dangerous, suspicious and shady, illegal and illicit, it’s a no-go. One of the most courageous things in life is to wisely say no to a direction deemed potentially self-destructive and self-limiting when others are taking it.
Wisdom likes the wide open. This is not a hide-and-find me gal. Wisdom will not remain clandestine and closeted. She dwells not in secret or in the shadows. Wisdom will not hesitate to make her presence and persona known, even if she embarrasses us. Going down the wrong way? Wisdom will stand in the most wide open, middle of the road, megaphone in hand to let us know we need to turn back. Wisdom, in hiding…..never.
Wisdom prefers not to count. Counting leads to comparison which leads to loss of contentment. Counting of what we possess makes us think we have a boring life. Counting of what we don’t possess makes us think we need a better life. Counting kills joy. Wisdom adores joy and will go all out to protect joy. Wisdom and joy are like marriage partners. Better together. Wisdom also doesn’t count the costs. Cost counting is like saying to God, what is the least I have to sacrifice to bring you glory.

Cotton Candy are featherweight flurries of sugary sweetness. The first piece tingles and tantalizes your tastebuds to want more, like Wisdom and these pros that melt in your inside good.
Pros
Wisdom challenges us to be bold. Wisdom gives us choices to choose from: better, best, and bold. Better choice than we made before. Best choice is harder short term, but more beneficial long term. Bold choice is best choice + courage when we must rise up to the situation.
Wisdom’s nickname in another life is Nonconformo because she’s a nonconformist. She doesn’t adhere to rules that run against God’s Word or character. So she has enemies, those who thwart and target her. If you run with her, you will have enemies too. But being a friend of Wisdom will bring you a whole new set of friends and allies that are way more powerful. For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but the principalities of darkness.
Wisdom works wonders. She is the glue that makes the impossible possible. She is the best glue that money cannot buy. Happenings happen and life livens when Wisdom shows up. 1+1= 2 is a reality because of her. Relationships and resolve, plans and purposes, ambition and aspirations fall apart with counterfeit wisdom. Only the real Wisdom can deliver.

When you bite into Wisdom, she will taste like a cotton ball or cotton candy. The difference depends on whether you see her as a foe or friend. Hostility towards Wisdom will leave you with an unpleasant, even a sour taste in your soul. But harmony in embracing all that Wisdom has to offer with give your palette something richer and more rewarding. Be a friend of Wisdom and she will lead you to the sweetest taste ever, the Real Truth.
