Travels That Unravels (Part II)

🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿

We can make plans, but God determines our steps.”  —Proverbs 16:9

🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿

On the road to Damascus, Paul the persecutor is overwhelmed by a blinding light of Jesus Christ that transforms his spiritual blindness and propels him to become the most prolific and enduring church planter in the New Testament history.

The winding road from Moab to Bethlehem is fifty miles long, but when Ruth, who comes from an idol worshiping background, arrives in Bethlehem, she meets her husband there and God transforms her spiritual future to become the great-grandmother of King David.

🍃

Through the mountains of Ephraim, the land of Shalisha and Shaalim, and into the area of Zuph, Saul the farmer goes looking for his father’s lost donkeys and meets Samuel who has a message from God that transforms his spiritual vocation to become the first king of Israel.

🍃🍃🍃

We wake up with ordinary aspirations and meet a God with extraordinary inspirations.  He calls us forth and forward.  He calls us to get up and go God-ward.

Neither Paul, Ruth, or Saul knew that their life would change this dramatically.  They had no idea their plans would unravel so unexpectedly.

🍃🍃🍃

They are traveling to meet ungodly goals.  Paul vehemently intended to find and arrest believers in Damascus.

They are traveling to maintain their status quo.  Saul was searching for his father’s donkeys, needed on the farm and for transportation.

They are traveling to find a better life.  Naomi, a widow, had recently faced the death of her two sons and was now facing economic poverty.

🍃🍃🍃

In the valleys we are wandering, God gives us greater vision.

🍃

In the fears we are experiencing, God gives us greater faith.

🍃

In the complications we are cornered in, God gives us greater courage.

🍃

In the preparations we are making, God gives us greater purpose.

🍃🍃🍃

We can plan what our journeys may look like and map how we will arrive there.  But God is the one who determines our footsteps.

Every step, no matter how hard or heavy, unsure or uneven, brings us closer to the destination God has prepared for us.

Sometimes when our travels unravel, in the unraveling, we see God at work in a way we never would have, had everything turned out how we planned.

In the unraveling, experience and encounter the Real Truth in a transformative and transfigurative way.
