When We Don’t Understand

🌿BREATHE TRUTH 🌿

Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus said, ‘Listen, we’re going to Jerusalem, where all the predictions of the prophets concerning the Son of Man will come true.

He will be handed over to the Romans, and he will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit upon.  They will flog Him with a whip and kill Him, but on the third day He will rise again.’

But they didn’t understand any of this.  The significance of His words was hidden from them, and they failed to grasp what He was talking about.”    —Luke 19:31-34

🌿BELIEVE TRUTH 🌿

The disciples did not get it.  Jesus told them ahead of time:

That what the prophets spoke about Jesus many years before He was born was true.

That what would happen to Jesus in His treatment by His enemies would take place.

🍃

That what Jesus would endure…being mocked, spit, flogged, and killed would be carried out.

That on the third day after His death, Jesus’ resurrection would occur.

🍃

Yet the twelve disciples, the followers closest to Jesus, whom He led and loved, did not comprehend the meaning of His words because it was hidden to them.

Their world would be turned upside down.  Their worship would be tested.  Their worth would be shredded.

The enemies of their beloved Jesus would seem to triumph.  But take heart, they will overcome.  Jesus is preparing them to trust Him with what lies ahead.

Jesus is doing the same for us.

In our journey of faith, truths are presented in our lives that at the time, we fail to grasp its significance.

God’s timing is in God’s hands.  Not ours.  What is in our hands is the choice to trust God when His truths are beyond our understanding.

I will trust God when my plans don’t materialize the way I thought it would.

🍃

I will trust God when people around me execute decisions that work against me.

🍃

I will trust God when the purposes of Satan seem victorious over me.

🍃

I will trust God when pain or physical suffering is not alleviated.

🍃

I will trust God when my world, my worship, and my worth is challenged.

🍃🍃🍃

Is there some truths that God has revealed to you that seem incomprehensible to you?  Just because we don’t understand all life events that take place doesn’t mean we lose faith or lean away from God.

The disciples didn’t understand all that would happen to then and how it would change their future with the death of Jesus.  But they learned to persevere and wait for clarification.  We can do the same.  In God’s timing, He will reveal what we are supposed to understand.

In the meantime, trust in His Real Truth, have faith in the Real Truth, and lean towards the Real Truth.
