When we are young, we seek guidance and guardianship.
Babies need assistance eating and walking to finetune their motor skills.
Toddlers need help understanding rules of engagement and controling their emotions to manage their social skills.
Children need aid learning school work and establishing a basic foundation of education to develop their cognitive skills.

Whatever your age though, we all need to acquire survival skills. God declares in the book of Hosea how He tenderly loves his children, taking care of each child as His own.
Like a parent, God teaches His child to walk, leading him along by holding his hand. A Father who leads and a provider who holds.
Like a shepherd, God uses the ropes of love and kindness to guide us. Like a cowboy shepherd who lassos his flock, He keeps us from straying into dangerous places and keeps us close, making sure we don’t get wander too far from safe pastures.
Like a deliverer, God lifts our yoke of oppression to deliver us from our enemies. He does for us what we cannot do for ourselves. He then gives us nourishment to maintain our well-being.

Our lives are never are own. Our pastures are never pastures of this world.
Even when we stray and fall away from God as the Israelites did, God’s message in Hosea is one of redemption and reclaiming.
“How can I give you up, Israel? How can I let you go?” —Hosea 11:8
God, the faithful parent, shepherd, and deliverer, will not give up on His children nor let them go.
He will never leave our side.
He is a good, good Father.
Despite our wrongs and wrongdoing, His role as our father never changes. He wants us to learn survival skills to withstand the trials of this world and persevere in our journey from young childhood to mature, spiritual adulthood.
