“Who is this man?” they (Jesus’ disciples) asked each other.

This Spring Break was supposed to be a shorter one than in years past. We were scheduled to return home mid-week this past week. First time. The kids were deeply disappointed.
Another unusual first. I booked our travel itinerary differently. Returning home from San Diego, I chose the flight with a stop in Denver.

I had seriously considered changing the airplane tickets for the kids and I to stay through the weekend. Dad would go back as scheduled. But the penalty and other fees would have been over a thousand dollars.
This Wednesday morning. A few hours before the plane departure. A text arrives at 10:30 am:
“Your flight has been cancelled due to a storm. Please contact United for further information.”

The storm gave us the rest of the week to stay in California for Spring Break. No penalties or extra fees.
God uses storms in our lives for His purposes.

Luke 8:22-25. Crossing the lake from Galilee to the region of the Gerasenes, the disciples encounter a storm.
First, Jesus is the one who directs the disciples to traverse to the other side of the lake. Jesus is in control of the direction of our lives.
Secondly, after Jesus settles down for a nap, a fierce storm comes down on the lake. Jesus is in control of the timing of the storms in our lives.
Thirdly, Jesus rests during the storm but awakens when the disciples asks Him to. Jesus is in control of the fears that storms bring upon our lives.
Jesus is in control of every single details of the storms we encounter.

From the beginning of the storm to the end of the storm, Jesus is with them in the boat. Before the storm, during the storm, and after the storm, Jesus remains with them at all times.
He never leaves them on their own to figure out the storm or to find a solution to the storm.

Jesus doesn’t remove the disciples from the storm, but instead, He reveals who He is inside the storm.
By stopping the storm, the disciples see who is really in control.

All of us will experience storms of different nature. The truths that the disciples learned ftom this storm experience, we can learn as well.
Jesus will be with us through every storm in our lives. He will never leave us to fight our storms on our own. Jesus, the One who is truly in control of the storm, is greater than the storm itself.
Ride through the storm with Jesus by your side. Ride the storm with the Real Truth.
