Wisdom’s Path

I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths.  When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble.

Take hold of my instructions, don’t let them go.  Guard them, for they are the key to life.”  —Proverbs 4:11-13

If you have ever gone up the mountains, you will discover that to reach the pinnacle, no straight line exists.  To get to the very top of the mountain is not a straight shot path.  More of a very zig zag and contorted way.  Inherent of mountains are obstacles that rise up to interfere in your endeavor.

In contrast to the mountains is the valley.  Here, is where we live and here, is where the distinction erupts between straight and crooked paths.  How do we live so that the direction of our life is straight?

Proverbs 4:11-13 counsels us that through wisdom’s way, several advantageous benefits take place:

  1. You will be led in straight paths.
  2. Obstacles won’t hold you back.
  3. You won’t stumble and trip.

The key to entering through this way?  Wise directions and instructions that are heeded well.

The opposing way to live is the world’s way.

  1. You will be led in crooked paths.
  2. Obstacles will block your way.
  3. You will stumble and fall.  Even to your spiritual death.

In a side by side examination.

Wisdom’s Way is less painful and treacherous.  So you can enjoy the journey deeply and thoroughly.  Spending less time fighting the elements, neutralizing the obstacles, healing from injuries, and paying the cost of recovery.

Don’t turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you.  Love her, and she will guard you.”  —Proverbs 4:6

In addition, wisdom will protect you from going the wrong paths, making the wrong decisions, and rationalizing the wrong life.  Develop a love relationship with wisdom, and like a spouse, she will pursue and protect her beloved.

Wisdom’s Way versus the World’s Way.

Choose Wisdom’s Way.  Choose the way of the Real Truth.
