Our Lives Are in His Hands

When we face mountains that are unfamiliar and unknown.  God already knows the way.  Our lives are in His hands.

Up in the mountains, I can see the kids ski school from our balcony.  Myriad of little ones.  A cornucopia of kids in colorful ski bibs to differentiate their ski learning classes based on mastery of the slopes.

Yesterday, I went to pick up my son from ski school.  Tucker, his ski instructor, raved about him.  The best kid in his class.  Ski-wise and behavior-wise.  According to Tucker, he listens intently, skies intelligently, and carves the snow sprightly.  This little guy is ready for the highest skiing skills group.   Mountain X.  Black slopes.

Before I got of bed.  First thing this morning.  I was praying for my son.  Riding the black slopes today.

The weather forecast is slated to be cold and rainy.  Lots of rain.  Rain freezes and when it does, super icy slopes result.  Think falls and injuries.  Think the medic sled pulling the immobile skier uphill to the emergency medical center.

A worried mom.  Totally.

This elementary age son is still learning his cursives.  Today, he will encounter slopes that even adults find challenging.

One thought did ameliorate my concerns.  My son would be with Tucker, the same ski instructor he’s had all week.  He would have a skilled guide who knew the mountains well and would lead my son as safely as possible.

But a greater guide would be with my son.

Our lives are in His hands, and He keeps our feet from stumbling.”  —Psalm 66:9

A capable navigator and shepherd.  Our God  Himself.  Our lives are in His hands.  He guides us and gives us safe passage.  Through mountains high, valleys low, oceans wide, and everywhere we go.  Our journey is in His hands.

You faithfully answer our prayers with awesome deeds, O God our Savior   You are the hope of everyone on earth.

You formed the mountains by your power and armed yourself with mighty strength.”  —Psalm 65:5-6

God who made the mountains knows and understands the challenging mountains you are trying to get through.  He will be your mighty strength.  He will be with you.

Journey this Real Truth with Him on your mountain.
