“Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and to light my path.” —Psalm 119:105
”Where God guides, He provides.” —Isaiah 58:11
Blue Ridge Mountains. Beautiful and serene. Majestic and towering. The road from Charlottesville, Virginia to there is a lovely scenic one. Rustic scenery that would make a nature lover float all the way to cloud nine. Deeply satisfying and contemplative for the soul. A chance to get away from the rush of the city to enjoy God’s giant garden in verdant greens and loose brown hues.
But if you drive at night up the mountains, you will make an unsettling discovery. On most small two lane roads, there are no lights along the way. Nothing to illuminate the winding curves and twisting bends ahead. Complete, pitch darkness.
Last night, almost to midnight. We found ourselves in this predicament. Driving in darkness with no light to lead the way. On roads that were also unknown and unfamiliar.
Then seemingly out of nowhere, a four door sedan car appears. Ahead, in front of us on the road. Zipping along….. a glorious white car with glorious bright lights. What joy, oh Hallelujah!
Turning point of the night. The light on that sedan became a torchlight. A beacon. A moving lighthouse. An unspoken, answered prayer.
Beloved, what kind of ride are you on right now? Is it like our dark ride up the mountain? A morsel scary. A bit uncertain. A little unclear. With unknowns at every veering turn.
Then seek light in Jesus Christ. Psalm 119:105 tells us that God’s word is light for our feet and our path in this world.
God’s word is light for the soul. For its existence and long term growth. Because you are not simply here for a brief time, but for a much longer time teaching all the way to eternity. Until we reach eternity, we want to journey in light up the mountain, not in darkness.
Where His light guides, it will provide. These words of truth in the book of Isaiah 58:11 gives us this additional “car insurance” for the journey. What a gracious God we have! What joy, oh Hallelujah!
Find light in your ride up the mountain of life.
Seek the Real Light that will help you live the Real Truth.
