Celebrate Your Savior

A famous king.  A wise man.  A noble man. A military conqueror.

No, the One who holds the world in His hand came to earth as one helpless, vulnerable, shedding tears, filled with hunger and thirst, in need of warmth and a mother’s embrace.

Jesus’ arrival.   As an infant to unknown parents in a peasant-surrounding manger birth.  In a world hostile to the advent of the gospel.  Innocence and purity in a tiny human package.

In Matthew 5, the Beautitudes declares blessings proclaimed by Jesus.

God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for Him.

Jesus comes as a baby in need.  Lived with needs as we do so we can identify with Him.

God blesses those who mourn.

Jesus survives as a baby during the epoch of Herod who orders the death of babies under the age of two.  Jesus understands suffering and cruelty by the hands of ungodly men.

God blesses those who are humble.

Jesus comes as a baby not as a conqueror or royalty, but humble and weak.  To serve in humility and live in humility.

God blesses those who are merciful.

Jesus descends to earth from God to man to die on the cross for us.  His mercy forgoes what we deserve, so our sins can no longer condemn us.

God blesses those whose hearts are pure.

Jesus comes as a man, empty of sin, perfect in purity.  To symbolize the purity of God in human form.

God blesses those who work for peace.

Jesus arrives as a baby, as a Prince of Peace.  To bring peace and reconciliation between a holy God and a rebellious people.

God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right.

Jesus comes as a baby to do good, yet His enemies target his life and ministry to kill and destroy.  To be persecuted for pursuing good and holiness, Jesus understands when our enemies target us.

The blessings of the Beautitudes are perfectly and beautifully embodied in this tiny baby Jesus’ arrival.

The King comes here to dwell and habitate with us.

The King is here and His name is Jesus.  Giver of life  and unmerited hope.

Celebrate this Real Truth!  Celebrate the Savior!
