🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.—Proverbs 4:23
🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿
As the tendrils of a new year makes its appearance, wrapping itself around our most innermost desires and devotions, we often desire a word for the year. An exemplary and enduring word to describe how this new year might blossom and bloom. A picture illustrates a thousand words. A word to illuminate a thousand pieces of what the flowers of our dreams might turn out.
Presence. Abide. Chosen. Love. Faith. Believe. Wonderful words to welcome new buds of the future and wipe out old weeds of the past. Euphemistic and enthusiastic, encouraging and edifying. But what if God is giving you a different kind of word this year? Not a warm and fuzzy word to nestle with on a cold winter’s evening. Not a sweet and sugary word to munch and meditate to uplift your spirits a little higher.
What if God’s word of the year for you is “No.”
🍃
“No” to relationships not in God’s plans for you. You wanted this someone to be a part of your life. But they hurt and hinder your walk with God more than help. Beloved, guard your heart.
“No” to realities not in God’s purposes for you. You wished for truths to be true, but they are not. In God’s economy, He desires truth in your life and He will not sanction realities you believe that are lies. Beloved, guard your heart.
“No” to rationalizations not in God’s provisions for you. You warranted goodness through human justification. You rationalize goodness in things that you wanted to find goodness in. Goodness never has to be rationalize to materialize. Beloved, guard your heart.
🍃🍃🍃
We like festive phrases, flowery drawings, flowing letterings of our word of the year. Swirls, curls, twirls, and whirls. The word “no” looks too short and too simple. You look down at your paper. With only two letters, it looks a little bare.
Beloved, use that space to breathe.
Inhale. Exhale. Breathe in yes, I will guard my heart from relationships that wound.
Inhale. Exhale. Breathe in yes, I will guard my heart to realities that wreak.
Inhale. Exhale. Breathe in yes, I will guard my heart against rationalizations that warp.
🍃🍃🍃
Guard your heart and God will give you the desires of your heart if it aligns with His will. The deepest and dearest desires that only God comprehends and understands. “No” from God is His answer of “I love you” more than these things you dream of. Guard your heart and let God show you He has a better yes.
If your word of the year is “No,” let it glorify God’s plans, purposes, and provisions in your life. Guard your heart and give it to God. An early Valentines gift to Him to last throughout this new year.
