Unexpected Beach Encounter

Yesterday started out quiet and peaceful.   The beach day was turning out to be a beautiful one.  We were walking back to the bridge that crossed over the sand dunes to go back to the condo.  Suddenly a large snake about 4 feet long slithered across the pathway as we approached the bridge.

My daughter screamed and started running away.  I followed.  Okay, I did turn around to see where the snake was heading.  It wasn’t going after us, just trying hard to get to the other side of the sand dunes.

What a relief.

Maybe some good can come out of this.  I quickly took a pic of the snake.  To warn my other 3 younger children of the dangers near their vicinity.

Our response as a Christian when we see danger ahead.  When the enemy slithers in front of our path.  Don’t negotiate.  Don’t ponder the situation for an extended time.  Assess and leave.  Immediately.

In Genesis 49, Joseph encounters Potiphar’s wife who entices him.  Joseph assesses this offer for what it is.  Sin.  He rejects it and then runs.  Immediately.

Danger appears in a myriad of disguises.  Satan is very good at packaging sin to seem harmless or attractive.

Our response.  Run.  Let God battle for you.  Spiritual warfare isn’t about brute force or will power of the flesh.  Let go.  Let God.  Take over.

”It is not by force, not by strength, but by my Spirit, says The Lord of Heaven’s Armies.”  —Zechariah 4:6

And that pic of the snake.  Turns out to be a rattlesnake.  Sometimes danger doesn’t disguise itself.  Just be sure you know the real truth.
