Heart, Hope, And Hurt

🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿

Take your son, your only son—yes, Isaac, whom you love so much—and go to the land of Moriah.  Go and sacrifice him as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you”  —Genesis 22:2

🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿

The next morning. Abraham and his son set out early with their donkeys and two servants.  Three days later, they arrive at their destination.  Abraham goes through with God’s plan to sacrifice his son.

Three days to receive, re-evaluate, and reconcile God’s directions.  Three days to process, plan, and proceed with God’s instructions.  Three days to see the truth, settle the terms, and surrender to God.

God knows.

~God, who creates Abraham, knows his heart.  God tenderly addresses Issac as the one “whom you love so much.”  Abraham waits until he is 100 years old to receive God’s promise.  Losing his love will break his heart.  Abraham’s heart longs for strength.

~God, who covenants with Abraham, knows his hope.  In Genesis 15, God and Abraham hold a conversation about promise.  God promises Abraham protection and provision.  But Abraham replies:  “O Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son?”  (Genesis 15:2).  Abraham’s hope lies in a son.

~God, who calls Abraham, knows his hurt.  Three days of waiting on God, warring in his spirit, and weakening in his soul for the moment he is to let go of his child.  At the altar, God sends an angel to immediately stop Abraham from further action.  Abraham’s hurt is lifted by a savior.

God’s testing of Abraham is to determine Abraham’s priorities.

~God desires Abraham’s heart to place God first, not in the love for anyone else.

~God desires Abraham’s hope to be in His divine promise, not in a human person.

~God desires Abraham’s hurts to be healed.

God understands.

Relinquishing anything of sustaining value, significant worth, and sweeping importance means a loss.  God gifts Abraham three days to handle the magnitude of his loss.  Some of us may need more time.  Beloved, gift yourself time to pass, truth to persevere, and tools (prayer) to prevail.

Just as God comprehends Abraham’s heart, hope, and hurt.  God understands yours.

🍃🍃🍃

When you are facing a loss.  In God’s hands……….

Take time to heal.

Time to deal.

With your heart.

Time to be still.

Time to be real.

With God.
