🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿
“Please, sir,” the woman said, “give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.”
“Go and get your husband,”Jesus told her.
“I don’t have a husband,” the woman replied. —John 4:13-17
🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿
The woman prepares to come to the well to retrieve water. She brings a simple container to store the water. A jar. A common, convenient, and conventional vessel to be used. Over time, this jar becomes a useful tool of her every day life’s survival essentials.
When this woman arrives at the well, she meets Jesus.
Jesus turns her thirst into truth. He does this in two very meaningful ways.
🍃🍃🍃
Thirst into salvational truth.
Water from the world. The world offers water that cannot satisfy your soul. You will keep on longing to be filled and that fulfillment will never occur. You will continue to desire closure to surrender to something greater than your wants because as you have discovered, in the flesh, no want is ever conclusively satiated. This cycle of unfulfillment leaves you empty and wandering.
🍃
Water from Jesus. But Jesus offers water that counters the counterfeit waters of the world. You soul will be sweetened like the sun shining on a cold-blistering driven wind through the darkest of winters. Those who partake of this water find “a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” (John 4:14) You will receive closure as your heart closes to the desires of the world’s waters. In the spirit, the quest for your need to be quenched is met. The cycle of fulfillment is fulfilled, departing you full and worshipping.
🍃🍃🍃
Go ahead. Indulge your innermost thirsty indulgences. Consume your most consuming passions. Immerse all your emerging emotions and distracted devotions in these waters. Do business with Jesus at the well. He’s there. Waiting for you.
Oh, and that jar you’ve been carrying every day to help you make it through the day? You can leave it there at the well from now on.
