In Mark 7:24-30, we meet the Syrian Phoenician woman. She is not Jewish. Greek born. Now lives in an area that worship idols. And she has a desperate need.
“ She begs Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.”—Mark 7:26
Jesus tells her his mission priority is to believers of God first. Undeterred. She persists. Her response.
I’ll take whatever leftover crumbs of a miracle You offer. Any divine pieces of healing. No matter how little or insignificant. Any supernatural crumbs are welcomed.
Her resilience to pursue moves Jesus. He heals her child.
How often in our lives do we want God to do more. Where we are unsatisfied with His gifts. When we don’t appreciate His works.
But here is a woman who is willing, even happy with merely crumbs.
Just give me Jesus. Make me thankful, Jesus, for the entire cake or even little bits left over.
God, help me to be content with all that Jesus gives, including supernatural crumbs. What Jesus offers is enough. Because He alone is enough.
Fill yourself with this truth today: Jesus is enough.
