Healthy Soul vs. Anorexic Soul

Nourishment for the soul.  To reach places that are unseen and deep.  To fuel fires and keep them burning.  To undertake spiritual check ups.

Endeavor to have a healthy spiritual soul.  Consider these steps for good soul maintenance.

  1. Go to the source of life daily.
  2. Feed and drink daily.
  3. Refresh with healthy snacks daily.
  4. Rest well daily.

1. Source of life.  Meet with Jesus daily.  Talk with Him.  Before you even step out of bed, start your morning with a conversation with Jesus.  Not just a prayer.  Lay out the bad things and good things of the day to Him.

Jesus….I’m worried about this and I’m excited about this.

2.  Feed and drink daily.  Words of God.  No where else will you find every single page rooting for you.  The Bible is for you.  For your family.  For your marriage.  For your well-being.  To make you whole.    Patch up holes that need to be filled in your soul.

Jesus, please give me a word to hold onto today.

3.  Refresh with daily snacks daily.  Intermittently, you may run out of steam during the day.  Some days, you may even feel being steamed over by the day’s demands and people around you.  Pull out some handwritten verses on notecards, a pocket Bible, or a devotional.  A few minutes to fill yourself with a good spiritual snack.

Jesus, fill me with Your goodness, not the junk of this world.

4.  Rest well daily.  I took a course in college called “Motivation.”  The textbook was called “Motivation.”  The text was written by the professor who was a Motivation guru.  His research was on Motivation related interests.  What I learned about sleep.  It’s more important than food.  Your body can forgo food better than sleep.  Given a choice of food or rest, a tired and hungry person’s body will choose sleep over food.  Physically, sleep enough.  Spiritually, give your burdens and concerns to Jesus.  Lighten your load of worries.

Jesus, please help me to rest my soul in You.

Maintain your soul daily.  So you can be ready for the next day.  Next thing Jesus has in store for you.  Next journey.

Anorexic souls are starved of spiritual nourishment. Lacking a connection with God.  With no adequate feeding, refueling, or snacking.  An absence of enough rest.

Choose steps to maintain a healthy soul.  Choose the Real Truths that will feed and nourish your soul.
