🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿
One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering Him.
When Jesus saw what was happening, He was angry with His disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to Me. Don’t stop them! For the kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.” —Mark 10:30
🌿BELIEVE TRUTH🌿
In a recent Wednesday in our AWANA Bible Club, I was sitting on the floor with the kids during Counsel Time, while the Childrens Pastor gave a sermon. To my surprise, I felt something soft brush against my arm. I jerked my arm away not sure what it was. As I did, I saw Sydney, a kindergartner seated beside me, look away.
A few minutes later, something soft brushed my arm again. Again, I yanked my arm and noticed little Sydney turning her head away.
Finally, something soft brushed against my arm the third time. This time, I didn’t move. Peering over, Sydney had given my arm a peck of a kiss and then rested her cheek there.

Now I know Sydney and her family. Her grandmother and I teach first grade AWANA class together. Her retired grandfather is a well-known football coach at one of our local high schools.
Each week, Sydney sits next to me. After a year, she felt comfortable enough to hug my arm and rest her cheek there.

But with Jesus, there’s no waiting period to approach Him. To become familiar or comfortable. To feel safe and secure enough. You can come close to Jesus for any reason, under any circumstances, at anytime, from anywhere.
The disciples didn’t get this. So Jesus turned their cloud into an enlightenment moment.
The light bulb: the kingdom of God allows accessibility and availability to all who earnestly seek Him. Like these children who come to Jesus with a child-like awe, belief, and care. No pretension, ostentation, or calculation here. A faith that bares all.

To lean all in and go all out.
To carry with us when we approach His throne, a wonder of all that God is and a surrender of all we are not.
To live in an unholy world, have unholy thoughts, do unholy things, and have a holy God who wants to connect with us.

The kingdom of God beckons you to come. As a child, teen, or adult. Young, middle, old. Lacking, adequate, plenty.
Come with a child-like expectation. That Jesus wants you. All of you. That what He offers is more than enough. Come lay your cheek on His arms and rest upon the Real Truth.
