Shine Brightly in the Darkness

🌿Breathe Truth🌿

Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body.  When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light.  But when it is unhealthy, your body is filled with darkness.”  —Luke 11:31

🌿Believe Truth🌿

The battle for light begins with our eyes.  Small entities, big potential.  We may put on the toughest breastplate, the firmest shoes, the sturdiest helmet, the strongest shield, the most secure belt, and the sharpest sword.

But if our eyes are viewing things we shouldn’t be peering at, those things will puncture holes in our  armor.  Weak places in our armor cannot handle attacks from the enemy.  Eyes that seek ungodly pursuits, ungodly places, and ungodly pleasures will weaken even the platinum of armors.

Roving eyes open cracks and crevices that will be much harder to close and seal later.

Restless eyes seek adventure and enjoyment that can bring pain and regret.

Rambling eyes take us to destinations that are far away from God.

What our eyes look at can compromise our entire spiritual armor.

No armor is perfect.  The good news:  we have a perfect God.  A perfect Father who provides the perfect armor.  Jesus Christ the Son of God died on the cross for our sins.  His blood washes over us, cleanses us, and blocks all condemnation from our enemy, Satan.

Jesus Christ is our ultimate armor and our ultimate defender.  He protects against assaults and provides the ideal resource to lead us on, the Holy Spirit.

Take caution where your eye goes.  Your eyes are a lamp with two knobs.  One knob turns on the light of Christ.  The other knob turns on the darkness of the world.  Make your default setting knob the Light one.

Dear lamp, be the eye that brings light into my life and filters the darkness away.  Jesus, You be my eyes, the lamp that shines brightly in the darkness.   Jesus, shine the Real Truth in every corner of my life.
