🌿Breathe Truth🌿
“Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because the woman had said, ‘He told me everything I ever did! When they came out to see Him, they begged Him to stay in their village. So He stayed for two days, long enough for many more to hear His message and believe.” —John 4:49-41
🌿Believe Truth🌿
Noontime. Middle of the day. Hot, uncomfortable weather with the sun directly overhead. The Samaritan woman had come to the well when no one was there. When all the townspeople were back home. Eating lunch. Doing life with the other citizens in her hometown of Sychar.
The Samaritan woman deliberately and purposely came during this time to avoid seeing her neighbors and others who rejected her past and present lifestyle. A woman who had five previous husbands and a present, live-in promiscuous relationship with a man she wasn’t married to. Ostracized from the rest of the villagers. Better to be alone at the well than face their stares and mocking thoughts, she rationalized to herself.
But then she met Jesus. Then the game changed.
First miracle. The woman who was fearful about what others thought of her. Who took steps to hide her shame even if it meant isolating herself. Whom the townspeople looked down on her character and choices of morality. She ran back to her village and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ. The good news of new life, new freedom, new salvation. Not the Samaritans’ version of God. But the one true Yahweh God. From fear to faith.
Second miracle. They believed her. From shame to shine.
