Saul Before and After

🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿

Saul (before)

They rushed at him (Stephen) and dragged him out of the city and began to stone him.   His accusers took off their coats and laid them at the feet of a young man named Saul.  —Acts 7:57-58

Saul was going everywhere to destroy the church.  He went from house to house, dragging out both men and women to throw them into prison.  —Acts 8:3

🌿

Saul (after)

So Ananias went and found Saul.  He laid his hands on him and said,  “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who came to you on the road, has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”  Instantly something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes.  —Acts 9:17-18

🌿BELIEVE TRUTH🌿

We live in a culture today mesmerized with do-overs and re-does.  Appearances, hair, make-up, and plastic surgery before and after.  Old vs new wardrobes.  Unmodeled and remodeled rooms.  Unrenovated vs renovated houses.

One of the greatest makeover ever.  Saul of Tarsus.  His “before” and “after” is like no other.  A dramatic light from heaven shines down.  This is just the beginning of the rest of his life.

Spiritual makeovers involve a series of interlocking events.

Confrontation.

Spiritual makeovers are no afternoon strolls in spring meadows.  They reach the hard and hurt spaces, the unseen and ugly places, and the secret and shrouded races.  Spiritual confrontations are fighting zones where sin is chased down and hand to hand combat is warred.

On the road to Damascus, Saul is stopped by a brilliant light where Jesus confronts Him:  Saul, why are you going after my people?  Saul is a witness to Stephens’ murder, and he is entering home after home looking for Christians to be arrested, sentenced, and executed.  Jesus goes to the heart of Saul’s transgressions:  You don’t love me, and you are attacking the people I love.

Clarification.

Saul meets Jesus.  Saul becomes blind.  God tells Ananias to come lay hands upon Saul.  Immediately, scale-like pieces fall from Saul’s eyes.  Saul can see.     Instant clearness.  Insight coherency.   Instant clarity.

Encounters with God lead to a spiritual comprehension found nowhere else.  Whatever veil is covering our eyes to understand, God lifts.  Spiritual blindness is transformed to spiritual clarity.  After the scales fall off,  Saul commits the remainder of his life to Christ.

Saul the Christian persecuter becomes Paul the Christian pursuer.  Saul the Christ loather becomes Paul the Christ lover.

Tune into the next day to see where Clarity takes Paul.
