No matter what events take place in your life or what damages occur. God is still in control.
Beach that we visited today. A well-known local luau takes place every night on that beach there. Around five o’clock the luau festivities start with three Tahitian dancers and eight male luau guests dressed in straw skirts swaying to the beating drums. Same thing every night.
Once the entertainment begins, most regular folks like us on the beach tend to gravitate to the shore to watch the luau dancing. But my kids like to watch from the water. I stay in the water because with practically no one else in the water. With no one swimming, snorkeling, horse playing, I discovered something very cool. If I stand very still next to the coral reef, the fishes will swim around me, near my feet.
The key is to stand so still that the fishes get used to you. They become comfortable around your legs. They get used to your presence. You start to fit into their environment. You begin to look like you belong there next to the coral reef. Finally, the fishes accept you being there. All is good in their world. You are not an intruder. Just a stump of two feet very, very still. No harm, right?
Satan does the same thing. He enters our lives so stealthily that we slowly accept his presence. Instead of him being an internal invasion, Satan is not perceived as a threat. Over time, we think he is a part of the landscape of our lives.
How does he do this? Many ways. All destructive. But one way. He places individuals with toxic intentions in our lives. After a while, we get used to them being there. They are often harmful psychologically, but always spiritually hurtful.
They come. They desire to conquer. Play mind games with you. Not concerned of what collateral damage results. They take over your personal space and life.
It’s all about their win over you. Every. Single. Day. When you wake you. They let you know they are there. And their goal, to hurt you. Every. Single. Day.
But God never allows His people to be spiritually conquered. Not if you belong to Him.
“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it us written: ‘It us mine to avenge. I will repay,’ says The Lord.”—Romans 12:17-20
Let God deal with hurtful people. The battle is not yours. It is God’s. He knows every wrong and wound they have inflicted. He will deal.
Focus on God. Rest your heart on the goodness of God instead. He will deliver you from toxic people with toxic motivations. Nothing is hidden from Him.
Focus on God. Focus on the Real Truth.
