🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. —Matthew 6:22
🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿
Every car has a set of headlamps that light the way for the driver to see. We turn them on in the dark and the deep, and the unknown and the unfamiliar. We switch them on to see more coherently and clearly. Similarly, our eyes are the lamps of our body. They lean us in to learn and lead us out to leave as we seek to follow where God wants us to go.

Mighty grace.
Our family just spent almost two weeks traveling in the United States and abroad with my father. For much of this time, he is in a wheelchair. Petite in frame, I lacked much muscle power to manuever. But God lavished much grace to make it happen. Our minuscule ability brings out God’s mighty grace.
At the very last day of travel today, in the airport, a curious thing happened. My youngest child who is still learning to read, asks my father if he needs a restroom break. She proceeds to lead him to the men’s restroom across from where we are sitting, walks slightly ahead, and then uses both of her arms like a traffic controller to signal my father where the entrance is. Then she skips back to me. A happy child.

Mighty God.
As a mom, I sat perplexed. We perceive the world through our perplexities and puzzlements and God gently reminds us of His purpose and provision instead. He delivers this often through the Kodak moments of our children’s spiritual development. A lovely surprise to see my daughter take initiative.
Part 1. She encourages my dad. Check.
Part 2. She engages my dad. Check.
Part 3. She exhibits joy after helping my dad. Check.
But why now. Then it clicks. Two weeks of watching mom push grandfather in a wheelchair and prepare him for our next outing propels her heart to serve. She is taking ownership of serving. We have a mighty God who deals with the details in our lives to deepen our devotion in His name.

Mighty gift.
What we see transforms our heart. If we allow God to grow and gift us with sight that positions us to glorify Him. What a mighty gift is dynamic spiritual growth that sees the goodness of God and seeks to give praise to Him.
In 1 Samuel 3, a young Samuel grows up in the Tabernacle and is given godly instruction by Eli the high priest. In 2 Chronicles 23, another child, Prince Joash is raised by another high priest, Jehoiada, in the Temple of God as well.
What Samuel sees in his upbringing in the Tabernacle changes him. “As Samuel grew up, the Lord was with him, and everything he said proved reliable.” (1 Samuel 3:19). He takes ownership of his faith and call to serve.
Joash is groomed in a similar godly environment and gives honor to God, for a period of time. But after the high priest’s death, Joash rejects what he has seen in his upbringing. He forgoes and forgets the vision of following after God that he envounters under the umbrage of Jehoiada the high priest. Joash abandons ownership of his faith and the call to serve God.

Mighty goal.
Our heart will follow what our eyes see. To falter in faith or finish well in faith. It matters not whether you are a “p” or “k” —a prophet or king, parent or kid. We choose spiritual life or spiritual death through our eyes. If we cast our eyes to please God, we carve the pursuit of God as a mighty goal in our turns and travels in this journey of faith.
The eye is the lamp of the body. Follow the right paths where your eye leads, and your heart will be illuminated to make the right choices. Open the eyes of our heart, Lord. We want to see You.
