Mutiny Of The Soul

🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿

“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares for you.”  —2 Peter 5:8

🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿

Weeds start out small. One or two here and there. They don’t stand out, and may not even be noticeable.  But then they move further and further, enlarging their territory.  Quietly, they prowl and propagate all over the garden, spreading their propaganda.  Steps may be taken to take them down.  But they now possess a life of their own.

Worries are like unwanted weeds.  They multiply and occupy.  But this is no invasive irritant.  The purpose of worry is to mutiny the soul and manipulate the heart.

Mutiny is a rebellion against authority, especially by soldiers or sailors against their officer or captain.  A refusal to obey the orders of a person in authority.  A doubting of the knowledge and experience of the one in charge.  Similarly, worry is an open protest against a commanding officer, God.  Worry rises up to resist and defies by disobeying.  Worry is a refusal to trust the captain of our lives to lead and land us in the right destination.  When we worry, we cease trusting God to steer and show us the the way we are to go.  Worrying says to God, I’m not sure if you know the best route for me to proceed and I need to find someone else.  Not only does Worry doubt the authority and ability of God to shepherd, Worry seeks to search and secure a new pilot.  Worry is nothing short of a spiritual insurgency.

“Guard your heart, above all else, for it determines the direction of your life.”  (Proverbs 4:23)

Manipulate controls or influences (a situation or individual) unscrupulously or unfairly.  It maneuvers to organize and orchestrate.  Worry manipulates our heart to revolt against God.  It cleverly disguises its mode of operation so we are not cognizant of its objective.  Worry engineers to take advantage of our insecurities and exploit our vulnerabilities to achieve its goal of turning our heart from believing God’s best for the course of our life.

The best antidote to manipulation:  Guard your heart above all else.  Place barriers and barricades surrounding your heart.  Set up obstacles and obstructions.

Counter worry with the Word of God.

Blockade worry by positioning prayer.

Minimize movement of worry through the moving of the Holy Spirit.

Halt the advancement and access of worry into your heart.  Regain and reclaim lost territory where worry has taken control.  Utilize strategies, not emotions to impede worry.

How mutiny and manipulation occurs:

Worry deviates the direction of our faith.

Worry displaces the depth of our faith.

Worry distracts the devotion of our faith.

Worry reconfigures the center of our focus from God to me, from the divine to the flesh.  Sure, storms may be swirling and winds may be whipping, but the shift to self undos our trust in the Commander of our ship.

Worry is a worldly insurrection.

But God sends His Son Jesus Christ to be our supernatural resurrection.

Give your worries to God.  Place your trust in Jesus and the Real Truth to deliver you to safe harbor.  Seek shelter in Scripture, protection in the power of prayer, and help in the hands of the Holy Spirit.
