Lost Warrior

🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.  —Ecclesiastes 3:1

🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿

His family warns him.  His friends warns him.  His community warns him.  Samson is having an affair with a Philistine woman who is trying to kill him.  But he does not hear truth.  When we don’t hear truth, the only alternative left is to hear lies.  Samson listens to the lie of the enemy that he can retain his calling as a leader of a nation and still be a lover to his nation’s enemy.

What Samson wants is a season to lead in strength and a season to love in sin.  What Samson discovers:  God isn’t to be bargained with.

A time to kill and a time to heal.  —Ecclesiastes 3:3

Samson’s world begins to fall apart as Delilah calls multiple times on the Philistine soldiers to her home to capture Samson.  Samson is no imbecile.  The sequence of events are all similar:  Delilah asks for the secret to his strength.  Samson tells her versions of it.  Philistine soldiers show up afterwards when he falls asleep.

Samson needs to end his time with Delilah.   But he isn’t able to kill (cease) this counterfeit relationship. Ultimately, this counterfeit relationship kills him, and what should have mattered to him:

~his faith and his fire for God

~his character and his calling from God.

🍃

Lost of love.

Samson doesn’t simply have a sin problem.  If we dig deeper, Samson struggles with a love problem.  Dig a little deeper.  An intimacy problem.

~Samson is looking for love in all the wrong places.  ~Samson is igniting intimacy in all the worst spaces.

Confident in his sin.  Confused in his salvation.  He replaces a love relationship with God for a counterfeit relationship. He displaces spiritual intimacy with God for a counterfeit intimacy.

🍃

Lost of God.

Deep inside, we long for a depth of devoted love and deep intimacy.  But if God is driven out of the equation, the result is a separation from God and a vacuum that sin comes in to fill the void.  What Samson discovers  (too late):

God > counterfeit relationship

God> counterfeit intimacy

🍃🍃🍃

Lost Warrior.

Samson has great strength.  He is a strong warrior for Israel on the outside, but a weak man with weak character on the inside.  A dangerous discrepancy that Samson cannot overcome.  This discrepancy takes him far from God.  A lost warrior on an ungodly search for love and intimacy.

Satan thrives on discrepancies in our life that dilute and deteriorate our relationship with God.  Learn from Samson’s mistakes.  Kill the counterfeit.  Keep the real.
