Losing Your Life

🌿Breathe Truth🌿

Remember what happened to Lot’s wife!  If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it.”  —Luke 17:32-33

If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it.  But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it.” —Matthew 16:25

🌿Believe Truth🌿

To live abundantly.  Let go completely.  Lot and his family lived in the city of Sodom.  It was so wicked and devoid of anything good and true that God sent his angels to destroy the city.  The angels visited Abraham before Sodom fell and informed him ahead of time of Sodom’s demise.  Abraham pleaded for mercy.

What God did was spare Lot and his family.  The angels led Lot, his wife, and two daughters out of the city before its complete destruction.

Explicit and simple were these instructions:  Do not turn to look back at the city of Sodom as you leave.  But Lot’s wife didn’t listen.  She regretted the life they had built in Sodom and all they owned and acquired.  She still clung to that life, despite the wickedness of the place she called home.  She still clung to that life, despite the saving mercy of God to save her family and herself.

What she clung to ultimately costed her her life.

There was no future back there in Sodom for Lot’s wife.  But she was stuck in the past.  Unhappy with the circumstances of losing her present.  Unable to trust God with the future.

When we focus so much on our past.  When we cling so hard to the past.  When we push God out of the picture of the present.  When we want to control our present.  Our grip on the past and present paralyzes us from moving forward into the future.

But when we let go of our life.  When we lose our life to Jesus.  He will give us abundantly more than what we ask for.

🍃🍃🍃

To live wholly.  Let go completely.

To live abundantly.  Let go completely.

To live life without clinging to the past.  Let go completely.

Let go of the life you think you should have.  Trust God with the Real Truth of the abundant life He wants you to have now.
