Keeping Him Close By

I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes before Him.  —Psalm 62:1

Tuesday.  My daughter and I visit the car dealership to re-key 3 keys.  When we drop off the minivan, it is playing a Hillsong CD.  When we receive the car back, the CD is off, the radio is turned on and reset to 105.7 KHCB, which stands for Keeping Him Close By.

Wednesday.  At the dealership again, next day, for an oil change with additional work on the car door and GPS.  When we drop off the minivan, it is playing a Hillsong CD.  I obtain a loaner car.  Inside the loaner, the music is playing 105.7, KHCB, Keeping Him Close By.

Thursday.  The repairs are done.  We return the loaner car.  When we receive our minivan back, the CD is off, and the radio is turned on and reset to 105.7, KHCB, Keeping Him Close By.

I asked the service advisor if 105.7 KHCB is a designated radio station for the dealership.  No, he replies.  105.7?  Never heard of it.

KHCB only broadcasts hymns and sermons.  For years, I have been an avid listener.  I know the daily schedule by heart.  Their music is the last song I hear before going to bed and the first song I hear waking up.  It is never turned it off while we are home.  As the kids grew up, we transitioned to another radio station and to worship CDs/downloads.

But this week, for three days, every day, I pick up a car that is set, of all places, to a station brimming with hymns and sermons.  What are the chances?

A season of change.  This is where we are.  Yet God’s tender encouragement is this:  I haven’t changed.  As the world is in a flux with developing news of the Covid-19.

•Listen and be still, and know that God still holds you in His hands.

•Let all that you are wait quietly for Him.

•Leave the turbulent noise aside and Keep Him Close By inside.
