Jesus Values Life

Jesus values life.

The acronym REVIVE.  V stands for value.

When we care about something, we impart value to it.  Jesus’ entire ministry was about valuing people.

In Mark 5, we see someone who was desperately seeking a miracle.  A woman in the crowd who had been sick for 12 years and no doctor had been able to help her.

She had used up all her money to find a cure, but to no avail.  She hadn’t gotten better.  In fact, her medical condition had worsened.  But then a man name Jesus comes to her home town.  What does she do?

“She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe.  For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.’ ”  (Mark 15:27-28)

People were all around him, trying to get close to Him.  Jesus knew immediately that “healing power had gone out from Him., so He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?”  (Mark 15:30)

Jesus valued this woman so much He wanted to identify her.  She wasn’t just simply someone in the crowd, a random individual to Him.  He wanted to specifically acknowledge her presence.

He wanted her to know, “I see you.  I know you are there.  Rise up, my dear child.”

His heart and eyes were focused on her, amidst the jostling, noise, and chaotic atmosphere.

In fact, Jesus “kept on looking around to see who had done it.” (Mark 15:32)

“Daughter, your faith has made you well.  Go in peace.  Your suffering is over.”  (Mark 15:34)

Not only did Jesus had compassion and love for this woman, but Jesus valued her life, her suffering, and all that she had been through.  He addressed her suffering directly.  He not only healed her physically, but spiritually as well.  Go in peace.  Walk in a new light.  You are free.

Jesus valued her life.  Jesus also values your life.  He sees the pain, hard, and difficult seasons in your life.  He offers you the same peace and deliverance.

Come to Him, and touch His robe, and pursue Him.  Reach out to Jesus.  Enter into a relationship with Him.  He values you and is waiting for you.  That’s the Real Truth.
