🌿Breathe Truth🌿
“That evening Jesus’ disciples went down to the shore to wait for Him. But as darkness fell and Jesus still hadn’t come back, they got into the boat and headed across the lake toward Capernaum.
Soon a gale swept down upon them, and the sea grew very rough. They had rowed three or four miles when suddenly they saw Jesus walking on the water toward the boat.” —John 6:16-19
🌿Believe Truth🌿
The feeding of the 5000+ had been completed. People saw Jesus perform this miracle of providing nourishment for all the men, women, and children who were there. So they wanted to make Jesus king. To flee from this mob idea, He slipped away by Himself into the hills nearby.
In the Waiting. Jesus had left the disciples behind when he left the crowd. The rendezvous was set for the shore down below. Problem. The disciples came to the meeting point. They waited. And waited. And waited. Jesus, a no show. Where was He? Was He coming? Remember, there were no lights or electricity at the time. Darkness rising. Jesus missing. So Jesus’ disciples made an executive decision. They climbed into their boat to return to Capernaum. Without Him. They trusted that even if they left, Jesus would find them.
In the Waiting, Jesus will still find you. In the Waiting and the darkness, Jesus is still at work. Just believe.

In the Witness. In another account of that evening, in Matthew 14:22-31, we see that “the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking in the water.” (Matthew 14:24-25) The disciples were struggling to handle the storm and the turbulence accompanying it. The adverse elements were overwhelming them. Then Jesus comes for them. On top of the water. The most dramatic entry in history. The disciples’ reaction upon seeing Him: fear and uncertainty. Jesus’ response: “Don’t be afraid….Take courage. I am here.” (Matthew 24:37).
In the Waiting, Jesus is coming for you. In the Waiting, the darkness, and the storm, you will witness the power, provision, and protection of Jesus. Just hold on.

What if Jesus hadn’t made the disciples wait? What if He arrived on time before darkness blanketed the shoreline? Jesus would have gotten in the boat and they would have left together. But in this scenario, the disciples wouldn’t have seen Jesus walking on the water. They wouldn’t have received His care for them under duress circumstances. They wouldn’t have witnessed a miracle that defied all forces of nature.
In the Waiting and the Witness, Jesus is working on your behalf. Believe and hold on to these Real Truths today.
