“In my distress I cried out to the Lord, and He answered me and He set me free.” —Psalm 118:5.
Off-days. Off-weeks. Even an off-season in life when life doesn’t turn out as you had hoped.
David didn’t have the convenience of having the Bible to study theology and try to understand how God worked. But David understood the integral and spiritual underlining that supports each of our steps in this journey of faith.
David writes of being released from distress only because of God. Through God. Through spiritual intervention. Through divine Hands that may seem invisible to us, but is carrying out plans for us for our ultimate good.
Deliverance from distress comes from freedom that only God can give.
No earthly freedom obtained by our own means can heal us from the consequences of the distress.
Because it’s not just The Problem in front of us that is a problem. It’s the aftermath of that problem’s destructive consequence to hurt and inflict maximum damage.
The good news.
”The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Yes, the Lord is for me; He will help me.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people.” —Psalm 118:6-7
God is for you and He is bigger than problems or people. Don’t fear when God is right here. God will help you.
Take refuge in His strength. Trust in Him. If Jesus can endure the ultimate distress on the cross for you and come out victorious. The Problem you are fighting cannot be greater than Jesus’ overcoming death from the crucifixion.
Jesus is greater. That’s the Real Truth.
