🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿
“So John was beheaded in the prison, and his head was brought on a tray…..Later, John’s disciples came for his body and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus what had happened. As soon as Jesus heard the news, He left in a boat to a remote area to be alone.” —Matthew 14:10-13
🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿
A hammock swing on a spring day. A sweet watermelon-chilling on a sand building summer day. A leaf raking-taking autumn day. A fireplace by the bookcase resting winter day. Reposeful moments we don’t want to end. But there are endings in life that have to occur. When the door is being closed no matter whether we are ready or not. The release of something or someone that matters so much to us.
John the Baptist and Jesus grow up together in the same family and give away their lives in simultaneous faith. Jesus watches John the Baptist’s ministry bloom and blossom until his untimely death. The revelation of his passing away compels Jesus to seek a far-away solitude.
A place, some space.
A leave, to grieve.
A finish, an anguish.
Jesus loves deeply and He loves in-depth. Jesus loves John the Baptist. This loss affects Jesus to the point He needs to get away to grieve. Anguish erupting from an unexpected finish. Jesus of powerful divine nature, humbly lives out earthly emotions as we do. He experiences overwhelming sorrow and overt sadness. In this picture where Jesus tenderly takes time to be alone, one of the most poignant snapshot of Jesus’ humanity is revealed: A perfect God in profound pain.

Letting go is part of life and part of our journey of faith.
Life consists of holding on to what needs to be held and letting go when it’s time to do so. Waves in the ocean can’t be held back. Wind in the trees can’t be prevented from blowing. Waves and wind need to go their way just like there are entities in our life that must leave.

Letting go is a private release, a personal relinquishment.
Life consists of balancing the personal versus the public. But the real letting go is always done in private. Submitting to God’s plan is not easy nor effortless. Not for the outside world to see the source of our struggle. Not for passbyers to view the ache of our affliction. Letting go is a process between God and us. No audience needed. Jesus alone is our sufficient witness when the release takes place.

Letting go is giving back to God what belongs to Him.
Life consists of surrendering what we think is ours and saying to God, “You can have it” and fighting God to have our way. A sweet surrender is a complete acceptance of what God will do with what we give back to Him. Everything that we have belongs to God in the first place. Nothing was ever ours. Stewardship is not ownership.

We may not understand the purpose of letting go, but we trust the plan. When we let go, God can take what we relinquish. He can make a right out of a wrong. A starting over after a storm. A beginning despite an ending. Let Jesus champion your letting go. Let the Real Truth be a safe place, a secure leave, and a strong finish as you let loosen your hold on what needs to be emancipated in your life into God’s Hands.
