God Sees Our Potential

🌿Breathe Truth🌿

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb….You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion in the dark of the womb.

You saw me before I was born.

Every day of my life was recorded in your book.  Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”  —Psalm 139:13,15-16

🌿Believe Truth🌿

Baseball season comes once a year.  Assessment day.  A row of coaches with notepads observing.  I watched my son ready to bat.  He misses the first pitch and proceeds to miss every single pitch.  Never had this happen before.  Something was amiss.  Turns out, he had brought the wrong bat, wrong size, just a wrong day.  The boy who hit out to centerfield and left field in almost every game last year.

Walking to the car, my son didn’t say a word.  I tried to encourage him, how his arm looked stronger than previous year, how he had caught, thrown, and fielded wonderfully today.

Finally, in the car, my son said to me, “Mom, I didn’t do very well today.”

I turned around and said to him, “Sweetie, you know that God will put you on the team He wants you to be.  You know that.”

I held on to that truth because in truth, I was worried. As a parent, we live in the real world and there are real consequences that are adverse for our kids.

When God sees us, He doesn’t just see our failures only.  He sees the whole of us. God doesn’t write us off because we had an off day, an off week, an off year, an off season, or even an off life.

God sees our potential when no one else might.  Because God created us.   Like a parent, He knows, sees, and believes more in us than anyone else.  God’s love and acceptance of us, mistakes, missteps, flaws, and fallacies, is unconditional.

God saw us growing, forming, moving, in our mother’s womb.  He saw us before we were even born.  He has seen every day of our lives before it occurred.

🍃🍃🍃

On the day my son missed every pitch, God already knew.  I wasn’t even sure he would be drafted onto a team this year, but God already knew.

This week, we received an email from his new coach for this baseball season.  The coach and assistant coach’s sons were on the same team with my son when they captured the championship together two years ago.

Even though my son didn’t hit a single pitched ball.  This coach picked him because he saw the potential, not the failure in the assessment.

🍃🍃🍃

God sees the potential in us and He picked us to be on His team.  No better and safer place than to be on the team that God wants us to be on.

God’s team is headed for a heavenly win in the championship of life.  Won’t you join Him?  He’s saving a place for you.

God loves you unconditionally.  He sees your potential in Christ Jesus to grow in your faith and glorify Him in the team He’s picked out for you.

Let’s play ball and run with the Real Truth together.
