Life With Wings. Better.

🌿BREATHE TRUTH🌿

As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting beside the road.  When he heard the noise of the crowd going past, he asked what was happening.  They told him that Jesus the Nazarene was going by.  So he began shouting, “ Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me!”   —Luke 18:35-38

🌿LIVE THE REAL TRUTH🌿

At some point in your life, you want to live differently.  Here is a man who is blind.  The only world he knows is darkness.  The only way he knows how to live is in darkness.  The only wonder he has ever imagined is darkness.  What he experiences is a wake up.

I don’t have to live this way.  Darkness is a prison.  It has walls of confinement that is similar to real, physical walls of incarceration.  Other forms of imprisonments that keep us under lock also occur.

Relationships that cease birthing life.

Rationalizations we carry that lie all is well.

Rules we cave under that suffocate.

Roles we choose that thwart growth.

Stop and take a freedom assessment.  If no blooms are blowing in the billows, no shoots swaying against the stem, no growth gearing up in the green grass, and all is dark, no life can propel forward.  Then, do what the blind man does.  Wake up.

🍃🍃🍃

The blind man has endured a taste of bondage for so long.  Now he longs for freedom.  Until we come to the end conclusion that life in the light is better than life in the dark, life with wings is better than life grounded, our status quo won’t ever change.  Discontentment with the darkness directs us to deliverance.

🍃

Rise up.

Physically, the blind man is on the ground in the dirt.  To be able to see despite the crowd in front of him, He must rise.  Spiritually, the man is constrained by blindness.  To be free he needs to rise up and leave the darkness.

🍃

Resist approval of others.

People’s perceptions and opinions of us trap us.  Their approval or disapproval restrains and restricts our movement within the perimeters preset for us.  Resist catering to to other’s dictation of where you can go and how to act once you are there.  The crowd tells him to be quiet when he begins calling out to Jesus.  The blind man boldly resists.

🍃

Recognize your need for Jesus.

In our weakness. God can be the strength that holds us up and lift us up.  The blind man understands that Jesus could be the strength and source of power he needs to see.  Jesus can change his world, the way he experiences life, and the wonder of being fully alive in the light.  The blind man inquires for mercy in words.  But what he is really asking for is freedom from the darkness and a new life in the light.

🍃🍃🍃

What does this freedom talk chalk up to?  It means taking a chance, a gamble on Jesus to do something extraordinary,  extravagant, and unexplainable in your life.  In faith, this means surrendering

your powerlessness for God’s power

your helplessness for God’s help

your diluted version of truth for the Real Truth.

The path to freedom is rising up, resisting what others think of us, and recognizing our need for Jesus.  Wake up and smell the freedom blossoms wafting in the air.  Life with wings.  Better.
