Dog 🐕 Party

Dr. Seuss wrote a funky children’s book about dogs.  At the end of the book, there is a huge dog party on top of a tree, replete with cake and party accessories.  It’s one of our favorite books.

This week, one of my children asked if we could have a dog party for one of our dogs.

A dog birthday party.  With homemade cake pops.  And if she could invite her friends.

Parties are faucets of joy and celebration.

What if every day we have a Jesus Party?  Just you and Jesus.  Doesn’t have to be long or extravagant.   Open the Word.  Find a passage that breathes life into you.  You know what I mean.  The passage that pops out.

A recommendation.  Read several sentences together.  A paragraph, if possible.  A short paragraph if you are in a hurry.  Why? Because reading a paragraph gives you a context from which the writer is coming from and a frame of reference.

Paul and Silas.  In prison.  They sang praises to God.

”Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.”  —Acts 16:25

If Paul and Silas can celebrate in prison, we can celebrate in the freedom of living in Christ.  We can have a Jesus Party.  Every day.

Plus, we have one party essential Paul and Silas didn’t.  The Old and New Testament together.  The perfect Party Guide.

A quiet time sounds nice.  But make it a Jesus Party to liven things up.

Go ahead.  Open up the Scriptures.

Let it shower you with confetti of hope and truth. And fill balloons of prayer and watch it float all the way to the heavens.

Beloved…..Rise up and party with Jesus.  Celebrate every day with the Real Truth.
