Convictions Trump Placement

God may take us somewhere we haven’t been before.  But our faith in Him doesn’t change because our circumstances do.

What happens when you find yourself starting over. In an unknown place, unknown surroundings, unknown rules.

Daniel and his three friends, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah are taken from their home in Jerusalem  after Babylon’s successful siege.

These 4 are chosen for a special program for leadership positions in their new home of Babylon.

New customs.  New way of life.  New rules.

Including eating portions from the king’s kitchen.  These foods and wine were often offerings in sacrifices to the Babylonian gods.

There lies the problem.

What does Daniel do?

Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king.    He asked the chief of staff for permission not to eat these unacceptable foods.”  —Daniel 1:8

Instead, Daniel asks for a different diet from the rest of the trainees.   For ten days.

“At the end of ten days, Daniel and his three friends looked healthier and better nourished than the young men who had been eating the food assigned by the king.”  —Daniel 1: 15

So after this, Daniel and his friends were not forced to eat the  Babylonian defiled foods, but were able to eat a separate diet.

God honored their faithfulness to Him.

Conviction supersedes placement.

No matter where you find yourself.  At work or home.  In relationships or battles.  Honor God.  Make a stand for Him.  For all that you believe He is, was, and to come.

Live out your convictions.  Live out the Real Truth.
