Come To The Table

🌿Breathe Truth🌿

A table consists of 1 flat surface and 4 legs.  Seemingly mundane and ever harmless, yet unobtrusively powerful.

We arrive at the table to dine and drink, delve into conversations, discover connections, dive into concerns, and deepen character.

We come to the table to gather, give, and grow.

The biblical significance of the table is often overlooked, but cannot be underestimated.

Jesus begins his ministry at the wedding table in Cana.  Jesus ends His ministry at the Passover table with His 12 disciples.

Weddings are ceremonies whereby covenants are created and cemented. The covenant between the bride and groom is a symbolic reflection of God’s covenant with His bride, the church.

It is fitting then, that the Wedding at Cana is where the first miracle of Jesus’ ministry takes place.  The wine served to the guests at the wedding tables have run out.

Nearby standing were six stone water jars.  Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons.  Jesus told the servants, “fill the jars with water.”  (John 2:6-7)

These water jars are used for ceremonial washing, not for drinking or human consumption.  This explains the large quantity and plain containers the water is found in.

Common storage, common usage.

Yet, Jesus takes the water and changes it into wine.  Not just any kind available. The most rare vintage, high quality, exquisite palette tasting ever.

In intercession, the workings of this miracle is initiated by his mother’s request.

When we come to the table, Jesus takes what we bring and transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.

🍃🍃🍃

Mary, his mother, had no qualms about going straight to Jesus with the problem at hand.  But Mary isn’t the only one who can.

Jesus gives open access to all who desire to come to the table.  No matter the nature or need, whether small or serious, tiny or titan.

At the table with Jesus, there is no failure or fear of the past or the present.

🍃🍃🍃

The common becomes uncommon.

The unreal becomes real.

The broken becomes beautiful.

🍃🍃🍃

Did you know that Jesus has saved a place for you at His table?

Come in, join in, engage in, believe in.  Jesus is waiting for you.

🍃🍃🍃

Lean into the table.  Rest your heart and soul.  Be restored and revived.  See Jesus turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Bring to the table your need and watch God transform it to bring glory to the Real Truth.

🍃🍃🍃

Return tomorrow to see what’s on the menu at the Passover table.
