Leaving You Breathless

Moments that take your breath way.

There is a beach in Kailua that we have been to for 18 years now.  The walkway leading to that beach has a rock fence on either side and rounds to this lovely stretch of island in front of you across the waters.  Years ago, my brother and I rented a kayak, carried it to the beach, and kayaked across to that preserve island.

Every time I step onto that beach.  The sheer beauty of the scenery still overwhelms me.  Still takes my breath away.

No matter how long you have known God, does He still take your breath away?  Does He still surprise you with His tender mercies that are lovingly poured out when you least expect it?  Does a life-effusing verse still pop out of the page when you open the Bible and snap you out of your spiritual funk?

Does God still take your breath away and move your heart closer to His?

In 1 Chronicles 16:8-11, the writer gives us a roadmap to remind us to seek God in our every day.  So we can still be moved, still be breathless by Him:

“Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness.  Sing to Him; sing His praises.  Rejoice, you who worship the Lord.  Search for the Lord.”

Thank Him.  Talk to Him.  Think of Him.

Sing Him.  Share Him.  Search Him.

Praise Him.  Pray Him.  Proclaim Him.

Worship Him.  Welcome Him.  Wonder about Him.

Seek constantly in expectation of God.  Let Him still fill you with awe and leave you breathless.  Still.
