Secure Boundaries

🌿Believe Truth🌿

Today, as I was leaving church and going upstairs to pick up my son,  I felt a tug on my shirt.  I turned around.  It was a little boy with his parents.  I recognized him immediately.  I lead worship for a group of elementary kids every Sunday morning.  This little boy was in attendance almost every week there.

His parents seemed a little embarrassed.  They were complete strangers to me.  But their son wanted a group powwow. Three of my four kids were with me.  It was an awkward moment, but very sweet.

It was also surprising to me.  Not because he came up to me.  Other kids do that at church, restaurants, and stores too.

But this little boy was different.  He misbehaves quite a bit.  Countless times over this past year, I’ve given him disciplinary warnings during Kids Worship.  My admonishments usually have a final ultimatum:  If you continue to ———-, you will have to sit in the back of the room.

Frankly, I didn’t think he would like me much.  Having an adult tell you to improve your behavior?  Ugh.

But as I’m exchanging hellos with his parents, a light clicked.  Boundaries.

Micah liked to do things his way.  But when given boundaries, this facilitated him to define right and wrong behaviors.  I drew the boundaries for him.  Not fun, but he accepted them.

In Micah’s mind:  This lady is okay.  She sets boundaries to help me, not to hurt me.  Plus, I like the songs she sings.  So I want my parents to meet her.

What kind of boundaries is God setting up around the perameters of your life?  Boundaries may not seem enjoyable at the time.  But God has specific purposes and plans to keep us safe and secure within those spiritual boundaries.

Embrace the circumference of God’s boundaries for your life.  Enjoy safety and security within the Real Truth of those boundaries.
