Barbed Wires

“Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act, don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.”  —Psalm 37:7

We live in a hurtful world.  In our journey of faith, we will encounter hurtful people.  What to do.  Trust in the Lord. Trust that He will act on your behalf.  For your good and His glory.

Don’t worry about the wicked or those who do wrong.  For like grass, they will soon fade away.  Like spring flowers, they will soon wither.”  —Psalm 37:1

Nowhere in the Word of God, in situations not related to warfare and judgement, does God desire us to intentionally hurt another human being.

But hurtful people exists in this world.  Hurtful people may try to inflict harm on you. How to respond.

  1. Fight them.
  2. Avoid them.
  3. Walk away from them.

Fight them.  Prepare yourself for a spiritual battle.  In the spiritual realm.  Pray for God to fight those individuals for you.  God battles His way.  He will go before you.  Leave the choice to plan, attack, and defend in God’s hands.

Avoid them.  Not always possible, but if you can avoid interaction and confrontation. Hurtful people want to engage with you so that they can have opportunities to provoke a reaction or wreck damage.  Take a different route.

Walk away from them.  Barbed wires aren’t meant to be touched.  Think of hurtful people as those who function with barbed wires all over them.  Their covering is not yours.  You are dearly clothed in righteousness and the armor of God.

Surrender your fears and worries about hurtful people.  Let God draw up the battle plans.  Let God confront hurtful people in your lives.  Leave the battlefield to God and His Heaven’s Armies.

People who hurt focus on the here and now.  There’s more to this life than the destructive behaviors they manifest.  Set your gaze and vision instead towards eternity.

God will never allow evil to triumph.  Evil will not win.  Sin will not win.

Trust that God will provide and protect you.  If God is for you, who can be against you.  Know that the Real Truth will win.
